If Bauhaus and Art Deco had a love child this would be it. Clean, geometric, bold, dramatic and glamorous with luscious textures of sheepskin, brass, marble and velvet corduroy, this is the perfect little hideaway for a Netflix binge.
Unusually accessed solely and directly from the kitchen, this room is a hidden gem within the property. With a brief to provide a cosy space for the family to gather and watch a good film in the evenings, I went about pitching the idea of transforming the space into a secret private members club.
At only 11m sq, this layout had to work hard! Each piece of furniture was chosen not only for its style, colour and material but also for its scale and size. With the aim of creating the feeling of more space while also increasing the amount of seating, the starting point was simple: Fill in the unused doorway (previously there were two entrances to the room) and remove the built in cupboards and shelving on either side of the chimney breast to open up the space.
The details here are endless with a few of the highlights for me being the enormous bespoke brass trimmed circular mirror, the incredible Tom Dixon fan armchair, the stunning Fornasetti plate artwork, the oversized Laszlo Maholy-Nagy print and the beautiful Louis Weisdorf pendants. The seriously comfy grey corduroy velvet bespoke corner sofa sits beautifully against the woody caramel hue walls and the wall mounted television is disguised using a warm soft black paint.
The perfect spot to hibernate in the winter months.
