This sumptuous New York warehouse inspired contemporary office was a challenging space planning exercise. With a brief requesting large amounts of storage, a sofa bed for guests, a home for a drum kit and two large desk spaces in this 9m sq space, the design had to work hard.
Highlighting the incredible views across Alexandra Palace, I ran the long walnut desk surface around the perimeter of the room so that each work zone had its own framed scene for contemplation.
Soft grey bespoke shelving and storage acted as an anchor for the deep blue sofa, while also creating pockets of space for the homeowners to display their collection of books, objects and family photos.
To avoid the drum kit having too strong an impact on the work zone, I designed a crittal window inspired partition to allow for the drums to have their own defined area.
The richly dramatic deep blue walls against the walnut wood, hints of brass and marble, charcoal and tanned leather all add a feeling of luxury to this rich masculine office.
