Created in collaboration with Sophie Robinson for channel 5’s Dream Home Makeovers , this formal living room design showcases the clients unconventional amazing collection of art, curios and mid century furniture.
This design straddles a variation of styles which establishes it as completely unique and bespoke to its owners. A balance of Georgian heritage, 60’s and 70’s pop culture and mid century modern all have their say in this truly eclectic space.
Key to allowing this room to double as a family tv room and also a more formal entertaining party space for guests, is the layout. Moving the sofas away from the walls allows for a more sociable atmosphere and a large mirrored coffee table and plenty of Georgian side tables means there is always somewhere to place a glass of champagne! And no party room is complete without a drinks cabinet- this upcycled vintage mid century cabinet works beautifully!
The dark teal painted walls are the perfect back drop to the gorgeous vintage lights and artworks. The walls, wood work and doors all painted in the same deep teal give a dramatic immersive effect, and are offset by the warm soft pink ceiling.
A dramatic chrome disco ball light, an over scaled bespoke mirror and mirrored coffee table all bring a reflective playful quality which solidifies this space as the party room!
And lastly, plenty of patterns makes this room feel fresh and eclectic. Leopard print cushions, watercolour lampshades, floral upholstery, a Persian rug, a geometric carpet all all work seamlessly because the colour palette is tight.
It doesn’t get much more eccentric than that!
